Cape York Epic 4X4 Road Trip, Old Telegraph Track, Elliott Falls, Twin Falls &The Tip of Australia

Updated: Nov 21, 2022

Cape York Peninsula is Queensland’s ultimate 4x4 destination and on most peoples bucket list. We certainly had the time of our lives in Cape York tackling The Old Telegraph Track, leading to river crossings, wheel lifts and a bloody good time.

PART ONE….CAPE YORK..QUEENSLAND’S ULTIMATE 4X4 DESTINATION….PALM CREEK ANTICS ..Laura to Bramwell JCT

We leave the caravan at Mount Carbine and head off with just the swag & our 79 Series Landcruiser. In Part One we travel to Laura, then onto Coen, Bramwell Junction Roadhouse and then onto Palm Creek and the Old Telegraph Track. We experience first hand the corrugated roads, red dust and huge termite mounds. We stay overnight at Palm Creek and watch as people negotiate the difficulty of getting their 4WD in and out of Palm Creek.

Cape York Part Two..Gun Shot..Fruit Bat Falls…Cockatoo Creek…Old Tele Track 4x4

We continue our epic road trip in Cape York Peninsula, Queensland. We tackle some of the Old Tele Track including the drive out to Gun Shot, Cockatoo Creek, Turtle Pond and the famous Fruit Bat Falls.

We managed to get Fruit Bat Falls to ourselves, capturing some amazing drone footage.

CAPE YORK PART 3..Elliott Falls & NOLAN’S FAILURES & SUCCESSES!!!!!OLD TELEGRAPH TRACK 4X4 Australia

Twin Falls and Elliott Falls, are absolutely stunning, especially because we did it again and got them to ourselves! We continue along the Old Telegraph Track to the famous Nolan’s Brook, where we witnessed some 4x4 failures and successes as they tried to cross the creek. It ended up being a great place to camp. Camping in Cape York is all about being off the beaten track……

CAPE YORK Part 4 REMOTE BEACH CAMPING QLD/CROSSING THE JARDINE & REACHING THE TIP OF AUSTRALIA

We finally reach the Jardine river crossing and continue up Cape York to an AWESOME Remote FREE BEACH camp, away from all the crowds. We explore the area, visiting Punsand Bay and continue up to Queensland’s Most Northerly Point, The Tip of Australia. We do a walkthrough of our camp set up, including a walkthrough of our Norweld Canopy. We discuss what we included for our trip to the Tip.
